1. How many concurrent users will be there?
Ans: All usres i mention are concurrent, approx (50 -60)
2. WHat is the number of transactions per day per user?
Ans: They have very high transaction volume -
Purchase: 4000 invoice per month
Sales: 6000 invoices and around 6500 tax invoices per month
G/L: 2000 journal Entries
More importantly they have 10 interfaces to other systems from which they get the data in to their current G/L system.(not included into these transactions)
All these numbers are based on their current system
3. Which database they are using, native or sql?
Ans: we are planning to use SQL
4. How many remmote working locations are there?
Ans: Currently they have Seven(7) Remote location, but very little transaction from that locations.
5. What is the mode of connectivity?
Ans: For remote Location - They have lease line, we are planning to use Citrix or WTS
others they have LAN ,
all user login to server through application server.
6. Hardware sizing and optimization?
Ans: We need to deside Yet.
........ and so on.
You defininitely want to use SQL as your database. There are answers to your questions regarding optimizing, considerations, and precautions when doing large implementations are already posted on this forum. You just need to search for them.
If you do not want to search the forum (as the answers might be scattered across), you can contact Mark Brummel (http://www.sqlperform.nl), he's is THE expert in SQL with NAV dealing with your problems.
