Client Cannot connect to server

Hi Guys

We have a client with a Navision Database working on 4.1 on a server/client configuration. There are about 6 clients and all are working fine.

We have lately installed Navision client on 2 new machines and updated the HOST file on the client to include the Navision server. Upon trying to select a database, however, we get a TCP/IP error saying that the client cannot connect to the server. All other clients are working fine. The problem is that we did not install Navision on the other clients and therefore do not know if there are other settings that need to be setup apart from the HOST file.

Any help appreciated. Thanks

Check the NET Type setting on the NAV client when opening the DB. Set it to TCP.
There are no bugs - only undocumented features.

And do not forget to insert empty line after the last line in the HOST file... ;-)

U really use TCP and not TCPS?
TCP/IP port 2407 is not blocked on local Firewall?
    HOST file is correct filled?
U read the w1w1ism.pdf, its in Doc folder on the product CD?
Be sure, that the user has the full permission on the NAVClient folder.
Check if the database (native) file is not write protected and not read only and there are also permissions for this file.

Do you make it right, it works too!

    Hi

If you want to rule the host file in/out as the problem try connecting with the IP address instead of the server name

    Thanks Guys....

for all your replies. It was a silly TCPS problem. It had to be TCP.
