remid hangs on 5.0 based object file

I've just been trying out the remid.exe utility for the first time and it hangs on the first file I have thrown it. It manages to process about 60mb of a 64mb exported text file and then just stops.
I let it run outputting to the console and it doesn't display any messages, nor does it go on clocking up i/o or cpu. Its almost as if it goes to sleep.
There doesn't seem to be anything particularly notable about the point where it hangs. .. its just after a menuitem object.
This is an export of all the objects from a Nav 5.0 db.
Anyone else seen these problems? The remid.exe was downloaded from partnersource just a few weeks ago.
