Questions in Sales Orders

1) Under what circumstances will a Picking List not print from a Sales Order. My picking list is just not printing despite setting the Printer Setup options properly.
2) How does the field Summary Update for in the others tab of Print Picking list/ Packing Slip or Invoice impact? Can someone please explain.
