NAV and Open Office Writer

Hi all,
in the last month we had several prospect asking for an interface form NAV to Open Office. Until yesterday we answered them something like "sorry, not possible".
But now we´re considering to develop a solution to feed Open Office Writer (text-) documents with NAV data. We´re looking for an automation server similar to the Microsoft Word 11.0 Object Library. Does anybody know if this exists and where to get?
Other concepts to acomplish the task are appreciated as well.

And generating vb scripts on the fly from inside NAV could be an option in "Hello World" scenarios but it´s not my first choice in an more or less abstract model for an unknown variety of text documents.
