Hi Nav masters,
I just wandering If there any .dll file or anything from Microsoft to install that allow my client to use Excel Automation in Nav 5 (Export to Excel) ?
Its because my client only have Office 2002 and they ask me if needed to buy Office 2003 or higher?
They just want to export the data into excel file.
Then they can open it with Open Office.
I've try to search in this forum, and try to install MSXML 6 but still cannot.
They use Win server 2003.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

There are several addons for .NET Framework to read/write Excel files. Search in google. Maybe you have to write a wrapper to publish it for NAV via automation server. And you have to install .NET Framework (but it's for free) and the addon (maybe you find some for free)."Money is likewise the greatest chance and the greatest scourge of mankind."0

Hmm I wonder why Microsoft don't provide support for that? :-kDavid Singleton0 -

You want to save it as .xls so you can read it in OO. Use the csv option, much faster and you can open this in OO0 -
Maybe you could use the codeunit that exports to OO and add a macro to Save as Excel.xls through OO... Just an idea...0

I'm using a report to export into Excel File using the Excel Buffer.
I think we can say there's no other way to do this______________

The codeunit for OO uses the excel buffer... It will require some coding but it can be done...0

When you export it in comma delimited format, you can set the file extension to .xls and it'll open with Excel.Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog
