Hi Adriaan2k,
i doesn't speak dutch, so i ask u in english (or is german better ;-) )
When you open the NAV client on PC2 you can add the servername or serverip in the serverpath (File -> Database -> Open) :?:Do you make it right, it works too!0 -

Goodmorning Garak,
yes, i can put the servername or ip-adress followed with the port and
select the networktype. I can also ping the navisonserver by name. But the Navision client gives a time-out failure: TCP/IP error ETIMEDOUT.
I did everything according to the Installation and System guide.
But i am starting to wonder if it is possible to use a Nav server in a network without a Windows server platform (and/or Active Directory).mvg Adriaan0 -
U really use TCP and not TCPS?
TCP/IP port 2407 is not blocked ?
U can use Windows XP as the operating system for the native Navision server. You doesn't need, for example, the Win2003 Server.
Stupid question, but often this is the problem. The services run? and the DB is not (properties of the file) read only?Do you make it right, it works too!0 -

Hi Garak,
I already found the solution and it is one of the issues you mention. The problem was solved after i opened port 2407 in the default Windows Firewall. Thanks for the support.mvg Adriaan0 -

Hi Garak!
Lot of thanks to you. Its always you who is helping me out of my problems.
The solution was adding the port 2407 to the firewall exceptions in Controlpanel > Firewall. Now i can connect the Navision server through a client installation of Navision from my laptop.
Thank you and wish you happy new year!0 -
