Hello people.

I have a friend who has bough Dynamics NAV 5.0, and he ask me to help installing it on a Windows Server 2003 so that he could connect it from a Client (remote desktop). He got license for 2 concurrent user so he will create two different Remote Deskop login which should connect the same Navision database.

But since i haven't really worked with database installation on server before, so I hope there is someone who could tell me, what is the steps in this job?

My friend is using a Navision Native Database.

Thank for advance.

Yes i have. I has looking into C/SIDE Database Server for Dynamics NAV 5.0.

Is C/SIDE Database is the same as Navision Native Database?

As i understand the flow are as follows:

Installing Navision Server on Windows Server 2003

Let the server database run as a service.

Installing Navision Client on the windows terminal users.

Then it should work? Is that correct understanding?

The last step would be to start the client and connect to the server.

But the steps you described is correct.

You don't need windows server knowledge to install NAV in a windows server environment.

My guestimate would be between 10 to 30 minutes to get it up and running.

as Alex sayed. It would be between 10 to 30 minutes to get it up and running. To install one C/Side Server (Native) is very easy (compare to SQL Server). If you will only install one native Server there are no problems. But if you need on the same machine an "Test" Database Server, u must configure the "Hosts" file and the "Services" file. For this we have here on mibuso a good HowTo.
