Machine Preventive Maintenance in NAV (and future versions)

Hello all,

I'm wondering how everyone handles machine Preventive Maintenance in NAV and it's relationship to MRP, planning.

I'm not too familiar with this area so I'd appreciate any input.

I'm also somewhat leary of 3rd party tools since (in my experience only) I've had issues finding support for the ones I work with. I know there are some exceptional tools available.

Any suggestions or leads?

Hi!

I do this by using the absence function on the macihne centers/Work centers. Or by the periodic activity functions where you can register and implement absence. Absence then have effect on the lead times where you get longer lead times if there is any absence.

In what area are you looking for 3rd party tools?

Thank you very much for your reply. The 3rd party tool we were looking at is FastMaint from SMGlobal.

I'm very interested in how you've acheived preventive maintenance in NAV, but I am not familiar with the areas you've described: 'absence function on the macihne centers/Work centers. Or by the periodic activity functions'...any tips on getting started?

I'd like to keep all of this in NAV if possible.

Are you talking about preventative maintenence for inhouse machines? Or machines that you produce and sell to customers?

If you're talking about inhouse machine maintenences, it's done through the Fixed Assets granule
If you're talking about machine that you sell to customers, then it's done to the Service Management granule.

Then you may want to take a look at the Fixed Asset granule. You can schedule service times for the fixed asset and log the maintenance invoice against the fixed asset.

What other information are you looking to capture?

If Fixed Asset maintenance/servicing is done internally in an internal workshop, is there a way to allocate (use) stock items and resources for the maintenance of Fixed Assets and consuming inventory?

You'll need to record the consumed inventory and the resources separately.

The NAV fixed asset only records a maintenance record.
