Regarding DB size

Hi Experts,

One of Our Client DB Size is 5GB. When I am taking Backup of that DB, the size of BackUp is Getting Upto 3.20 GB and it is Saving in two Different File Formats as FIN1 and FIN2 . In that FIN1--> Size 1.99GB and FIN2-->Size 1.20 GB. I am not understanding the reason, why it is taking as two file formats. As I observed here , if the Back Up increases more than 2 GB it splits into two formats as Above FIN1 and FIN2.

I am not sure this is the Correct Reason. Please Clarify my Doubt...

Regards
Teja

That is correct. The NAV backup will create a series of 2 GB backup files.
There are no bugs - only undocumented features.

While on this subject, is the 2GB file size hardcoded in NAV or can it be changed?

It's just something that never been changed from the days when NAV was a 16 bit application. No, you can't change it.

and its based on the Fileformat FAT 16. An File under FAT 16 can have a max. size of 2 GB.

So thats the reason, while the NAV backupfiles are max. 2 Gb per file
