What dou you wan't to do with the DevTool. To search where tables or other objects used :?:
As Savatage, in his bad post wrote, ask your partner to get the DeVTool in your license
i'm not in my office, there i've a price list of the cost of the Granules.
But when the infos in my brain correct, you need the Granules "99,003,640 Navision Developers Toolkit - Source Analyzer" / "99,003,650 Navision Developers Toolkit - Compare & Merge". So ask your partner for the price ...
In the US, it will run you over 30K for everything.
Then you still have to learn to use it.
You can destroy protected tables very easily with full development rights.
I used to be a programmer at an NSC (9 years)and am now working at an end user.
I am very familiar with the developers toolkit and since this is a highly modified DB, the toolkit would let me get a handle on what has been done.
Also we have other less experienced programmers who would be helped.
Do my own upgrade --- Are you crazy???????
thanks for the help,
steve
Well, if you're an end user, and you're doing your own development, then you should have the granule "application builder" and "solution developer", no? In that case (I guess) you should be able to use it.
Its very important to bear in mind that a Developer license purchased as an addition to an end user license is NOT the same as a Partner license. For example, you must also purchase all the objects you wish to develop in, and you will not be able to access objects that you have not purchased though the end user license.
I think that what you are planning is exactly the correct path, i.e. that you plan to do development in conjunction with your partner. So long as your partner has a proper development methodology in place, and are willing to work with you, this should be a great working relationship, and go quite smoothly. If your partner can't or won't work with you on this, then there are plenty of partners out there
It is amazing how hard it can be to get an accurate answer without asking a precise question.
My question is about The Developers Toolkit.
The official name is "Developer's Toolkit for Microsoft Dynamics Nav"
The last version I have seen is Version 2.00 SP3.
It is the tool where you import a text file of your licensed DB objects and can then use "where used" and "where used with" and compare code between versions.
Can I purchase this as an enduser?
Thanks again
sorry for the confusion.

As I said, its on the price list, so I don't see why not:
an END user can buy DevTool. Why not. If he has the money he can buy it. Also he can also buy the ganule 7200 Application Builder or 7300 Solution Developer. It's all a question about the money .....

Yes you can, an in fact quite a lot of end users do purchase the development tools. I have written an article about this:
End User NAV developer license
