This book is due out in January. The authors are:
Rene Gayer
Michaela Gayer
Christian Hauptmann
Since they are with MBS training in Europe, can somebody from Europe let us know if they think this will be a worthwhile supplement to standard Navision docs and training materials.

Hi,
Sure I can.
First of all here is the Short description of the cover:
>>This book is part of the MBST-Books publication series and deals with news features of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009. NAV 2009 is the new version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV which is based on a 3-tier architecture and extended with a role tailored client who offers a complete new user experience. The role based user interface, the new page designer, the using of web services and an additional content about transforming and upgrading of a sample application to NAV 2009 are discussed<<<
But here are more Details:
The authors concerning with Readiness of NAV 2009 since one and a half year ago. Our primary focus is partner readiness for NAV and CRM in Austria and Switzerland.
This week we finished again a pre-readiness training with an Austrian partner (one who is NOT in the TAP-BETA program) and start the next workshops in September.
We are currently had gathered many tips and tricks, do’s and don’ts and practical experience with NAV 2009. That’s the reason why we publishing with MSDYNAMICSBOOKS.com a new book.
The difference between the (actual) Microsoft material, like what’s new and How to’s, is and will be that we do not have the primary focus only
on “What’s New” , but rather "what’s inside and how can you use it"!!
Beside “What’s New” it covers many practical examples and experience:
like:
Role Tailored client:We do not only describe the new features. We give you examples how to create own profiles. How you could create your own Chart with a chart wizard on Role Tailored client, which is build in the chapter page design in this book. What should you be aware of and make a comparison between Classic and Role Tailored….. (Shortcuts, Features, definitions, etc.) What does role tailored working mean?
Page Design:Whats New material shows how to create a card and a list page. We show you how you create any type of page and include this also in your own role center. So you build your own role center!
We use most of the new common properties (included in dataset, BLOB type …)
Report Design:What’s new material shows how to create a simple report with a chart. Based on my first bookand experience with RS and NAV we show you how you can use features like Drilldown, List controls,... and what is not possible. There is also a comparison between RS in NAV and RS with NAV but outside using SQL server directly.
Transforming: There is a use case of a complete “Add-on” on NAV 5.0 SP1 and “How to transform and implement it to the role tailored client” with Step by step.
This is just a small summary of what we (more) cover.
What we are currenlty doing is the same what we did with our first books:
We want to publish the personal experience based on NAV 2009 versus theoretic new features in a new version.
On Convergence in November 2008 in Copenhagen I will already distribute sample topics of the book to those who wants it.
Ok if you have further questions please let me know here or on r.gayer@mbs-training.com and we hope that you will like our content.
regards,
ReneRene Gayer (MVP)
