Substitute material to be used in BOM!!!

Dear All,

There will be a scenario in manufacturing where u have to decide if the actual raw material is not available then we have to use secondary raw material for producing the Final Product or Finished Goods. :-k

So while running the planning worksheets, the system should show

say : RM A is 0 in inventory, while RM B ( Substitute for RM A ) is 200 in inventory. #-o

This is the requirement!!!!] :?:

Now what I have done is I used BOM versions for this requirement. But in planning worksheets it is showing only the RM of the latest version of BOM. :roll:

So I think we have to develop this requirement!!! :evil:

Correct me if I am wrong!!!

For the above requirement Use item substitution.

Go to item card choose the substitution item.

I hope after doing this setup it will show the requirement in planning worksheet.

I tried ](*,) to susbstitute but the item is not coming in planning worksheet butt ... butt... butt...... :!:

couldint find the solution ..... #-o

may be we have to CUSTOMIZE.....Actually it is one of the important issues faced in manufacturing in Navision to match.

Hi,
:idea:

In the components line select the item for which you want to use the substitute.Now from the list of available substitute for that item select one substitute item.

Now try running the Order Planning from that Prod. Order you will get that new subtitute item in the planning(if the available stock is less for that item).

For Ex:
1. Now if X item has Y as the substitiute item.
2. Run the Order Planning for that Prod Order,you will get a planning line saying that item X has to be purchased(if not in stock).
3. Now go to the component line and select the substitute item for X sayin g Y.
4. Now rub the Order Planing for that Prod Order,you will get a planning line saying that item Y has to be purchased(if not in stock).

Actually this is useful when you directly plann from the PO.

But if we plan according to the MRP ( Material Requirement Plan ) in planning worksheets for the item, then we dont need to plan for the substitute in normally if you consider it,isn't it?

It has to be customised in Planing Worksheets, for the same functionality that has been incorporated in Production Order - Order - Planning...to be done in Plannnig Worksheets.
