AX 4.0 EP on WSS v3

Hey guys, new around here and stumbled on this site after searching for possible fixes to the current problem I am having.

I am running my AX environment as follows

DC Sever:
Windows 2003 Standard 32bit

SQL Server VPC:
Windows 2003 Standard 32bit with SQL 2005 running the Databse and Analysis Services engines.

AOS Server VPC:
Windows 2003 Standard 32bit with AX 4.0 SP2 Running two instances of AX

IIS Server (VPC SERVER):
Windows 2003 Standard 64bit with WSS v3 and all prerequisites for Enterprise Portal.

Now this axapta environment runs 100% until I tried to install Enterprise portal. I get down to the steps in the guide Install and Configure a Microsoft Dynamics AX Enterprise Portal server where it asks me to run the Manage Enterprise Portal Deployments AX throws me back a message telling me Enterprise Portal cannot be installed because Windows Sharepoint Services is not installed on this computer.

I have searched for hot fixes and found a work around which did not help me of which envoled copying the Ax32.exe.config file from the installation source to the AX Client bin directory. Im wondering if anyone else has had similar problems with AX EP and WSS v3 and if you have come up with possible solutions?
