A product with few BOMs

What is the best way to handle in Navision if an item has more than one BOM?

Currently, what I do is:-

1) Create few item codes [but they have no diff in any form] in order to meet the BOMs setup.

2) For BOM which change during production time, I will change the component in the production order.

You can create different versions of a BOM.
And then use the version you need. But I don't know exactly how to do this.

From the Production BOM you select the Prod Bom button and you can select versions and start creating different versions of the same BOM. On a production order the production BOM version is then available on the line to change, although you may have to refresh order, cannot remember if you do or not.

For BOM Version, there is only one active version at one time and its control by the "Starting Date".
Meaning if version 1 starting date is 1/Jan/08 and version 2 is 1/Feb/08, user cannot use verson 1 after Feb 1.

And they cant do any changing of version in production order form.

User has to go into Production BOM form to change the version each time when diff version needed.

I am looking for more flexible solution where user can choose the BOM they want in production order form.
