Biz Notification - Compulsary to join domain only work?

I tried to install Business notification but failed ...is it my computer need to join domain in order to proceed with the installation? coz i noted the we need to key in username and password while biz notification installation start...and the username is in <domain>\<user name> format. Any advise?
