Upgrade from 4.0 SP 1 to 5.0

Hi,

One of our customers wishes to upgrade from 4.0 SP 1 to 5.0.

At the same time they wish to implement the Service Management module.

Any advice is most welcomed.

They are very experienced in upgrades. In fact do nothing else. They can guide you though the process and keep you from making (expensive) mistakes.

I would make one suggestion, do it in two steps, upgrade first, make sure it works, do any needed training, then add service management. you can do them right after each other, I would just do them separately.

I would budget somewhere between 1 day and 8 months, it should fit in there somewhere.

Really if you don't know then it will be MUCH MUCH cheaper to follow Mark's advise and use an experienced professional.

I think you forgot one main factor in this case:
4. The experience of the upgrader.....
