Integration with Signature Capture Hardware

ara3nara3n Member Posts: 9,256
Hello

One of my customers would like to store Customer signatures as they come and pickup the orders.
The cashier prints the Sales Invoice which the customer then signs.
They keep that in archive for several years, and it's a waste of paper.

They would like to store it as bitmap on sales Invoice document.

So I need to integrate with signature Capture Hardware.
The hardware needs to work with Windows XP and have a COM interface where I can enable it and disable it and store the signature on a drive somewhere as bitmap.

Has anybody already done such integration and if yes could you point me to the website.
Thanks a lot.

I know that Expandit's Mobile sales allows for signatures on the mobile devices

The signature function enables you to capture a customer signature for a specific order.

    Honeywell tt8500??

We did this for a customer back in 2003. We used a Penware 1500 pad (Symbol) along with their Penware Utilitities. The utilities capture the signature as an image file on the disk. We then wrote NAV code to import the signatures into a table.

This was not a COM interface but they may have one now. This is still in daily use.

The TT8500 cost about 500 USD to 700 USD

The Penware is in the same price range.

After some research I've found the following.

    http://www.interlinkelectronics.com/esi ... /epad.html

It's in 100 USD range and Comes with good online documentation of SDK with COM interface.

I think I'll suggest this to the customer and so they purchase one and ship it to me to integrate.

Also want to add that it says it support citrix and RDP.

I have to test it out once I get one.

Let us know what you think of it. It's always helpful to have another choice.

Did you get the ePad to work? I'm having trouble with one. It looks like I can get a legal signature and a signature as a bitmap but I can't get it to show the company logo on the screen. Alternatively I can get the company logo but I'm forced to deal with pen events so that I would have to build up a gimpy looking signature bitmap using code. I had a Topaz product that worked really well but I think it didn't look as nice as the ePad so the client wanted the ePad instead. Let me know how the ePad turned out.

Just so you know where the Topaz stuff is:

    http://www.topazsystems.com/

It takes all of about 30min to integrate one of these systems with NAV. They give you a full-featured OCX that works directly inside of NAV. They also have very helpful tech support people.

How did you make out with this? I'm looking into a solution for a new customer. Any feedback would be great.

Which Topaz model did you use?

Client has ordered the model I mentioned.

The signature pad has to work with citrix/RDP.

Does the http://www.topazsystems.com/ work with remote users?
    and what is the cost?

The Topaz system range from ~$100 to around ~$800. Don't know on the TS
