General Posting Type

Hi All

Can anyone explain me the significance of General Posting Type and is it required when i use a G/L Account No directly in an Invoice

    The general posting type is only for purchase and sales. That will be used when you post the entry on journal. And also used to calculate the VAT for both sales and purchase.
    So it is not required in Invoice..

    Posting Groups is actually a link between the GL and Ledger.. when you post any details the correponding value gets updated in the COA based on setup in Posting grroup
