how to convert a month no digit into an equivalent text, like 01 to january

You can use FORMAT:
txtMonth := FORMAT(DATE,0,'<Month Text>');

Just saw in report 204 it can be done simpler:
In properties of field in first section in report 204:
FORMAT("Sales Header"."Document Date",0,4)
This shows: 23. april 2008.

0 sets the date format ut I still think you need to use <month text> if they just want the month part without day or year
