5.0 SP1 Executables Upgrade Unattended Install

We're trying to use the msi from the SP1 install package to do an unattended install so that as users log in a typical install of the client is done with no user interaction. Although SP1 works fine as a full install package when running from the desktop, it consistently failed as an unattended install. Our consultant was unable to help and said that Microsoft did not support unattended installation of Navision.

Microsoft ended up suggesting that we take the original 5.0 msi and set that up for unattended install, and then amend it to add SP1 as a modification. For the computer, that worked fine. When we tested it on another computer we got error message 1722. This is one that says something like "An error occurred while performing the task. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package."

Has anyone successfully done an unattended install of 5.0 SP1? If so, how did you set it up?

Also, has anyone tried uninstalling SP1? On both computers that have the installation, we have not been able to remove the program. It goes through the motions but does nothing. Since we are in test, we are unwilling to go into the registry at this point since we want to preserve the old client until we go live with the new.

You can do this though the Group Policy Objects found on a Microsoft Server 2003 Domain Controller.

It works great, but you need to have someone that knows what they're doing implement the installation.

I would be happy to get you up and going, just call 9AM-5PM CST (US).

Thanks, but we were already using this to do the unattended install. We had no trouble at all with the previous 5.0 client install, it is only this latest SP1 package that is giving us fits.
