G/L Balance by dimension issue

When doing analysis on G/L Balance by dimension the dimension totals do not add up to the G/L account totals in some cases. This is due to the fact that if something was posted to the G/L account without a dimension value then the value is obviously not captured by dimension.

In order to balance the thinking is that there should be a column for everything posted to the G/L account without a dimension value.

Does anyone know of a quick fix for this issue?

You have to use the General Journal and make adjustment to those entries without the dimension code with an entry of the same kind with the dimension code.

The data is not the issue. Dimensions are not mandatory for everything that is posted to these G/L accounts.

My question was more about how are we supposed to cross balance the totals on the dimension side to the G/L totals without a additional column indicating entries that were posted without a dimension.

I was hoping that there was some kind of quick fix for this without going in and modifying the the progam myself.
