Performance of migration of item ledger entry

Hi

I have a huge problem migrating item ledger entry table from 2.01 to 3.70. The final destination is of course 5.0, but I have to do it in two steps.
I have set the two recommended database keys:

item no.,lot no. item no.,serial no.

I started step one of the upgrade last night and now this morning I found out that step 1 of the upgrade would be done after 18 hours, and still counting so I guess it would have been more. I stopped it and tried to find some reason to this in the upgrade codeunit.
But I can't find the reason. ](*,)
There is 260000 posts in Item Ledger Entry table, but I have done upgrades with bigger databases than that without any problem.

I have to find a way to optimize this to be able to do the sharp upgrade within 5 days (the customer can't have any longer production stop).
PLEASE... Do you have any clues how to optimize the upgrade???

And what about the hardware? What you are using? Are you using SQL or Native?

They don't use bin code field so I commented that out and BOM suddenly it was readu within some minutes... WONDERFUL
