Developer toolkit, merge, total chaos

dpardomdpardom Member Posts: 74
Hi, here again.

A question about the merge process of the developer toolkit for 5.0.

After the merge, lets say... the table 14, no modifications on the 4 custom version, so I move the 5 base version to the final version. all ok.

After close and open the dev. toolkit, the properties of the key have been changed!!

Of course, it'll give an error on the import on the new 5.0.

Also, some objects are empty.

What am I doing wrong?
Or is sooo buggy the dev.toolkit?

Thanks.

    Hi,

I don't know if you are doing anything wrong.
But beware of the following with the Development Tool Kit:
    1. It does not check if fields used in the key are present in the table!
    2. It also does not check when a key gets deleted if the key is used.
    3. When you go and create an export, select a base version first, then select the new custom version and then export the object(s). I found out if you don't do that, that it might export the wrong version.

Also, make regular backups of your database, the toolkit has the tendency to crash.

Hope this helps you a little,

    Regards,

It is why I am not using NDT for merging...

    Thanks for helping.
I guess NDT is not reliable.
    Any other option?

You can also try PSPad. (http://www.pspad.com/en/) (freeware).
I found (a customer that uses it) this last week and now I am evaluating it.
