Navision (V4 SP2) and Windows xp Firewall problems....

boywonderboywonder Member Posts: 179
Hi

I've got Navision running under SQL Server 2005 on a Windows XP Pro platform (for now!).

When I disable the XPP firewall the clients access it without any problems but the minute the firewall is enabled (even with the allow file & print sharing option selected) then access is denied - the message on the client is 'server cannot be found'.

I guess I need to create an exception and allow a particular port....

Problem is I'm not sure how I can do that or which port it is that I need to open up?

Help!? :?

I would suggest you to check the SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration, normally it should be fine if everything is default. On my laptop the SQL Server has "Shared memory", "Named Pipes", "TCP/IP" enabled. The client and Server use TCP 1433 port as the communication protocol. Try to make a exception for that port on the firewalls on both client and server if necessary.

    Good Luck,
