New Data Conversion Tool

According to unconfirmed rumours, one of the next NAV Versions will have a one-click data conversion tool which extracts all relevant data needed for a sucessful implementation from virtually any other ERP System. All you need to do is enter the version and build no. of the old system. You press the button, NAV does the rest. This will speed up the implementation process considerably. No more hassling with dreadful dataports or endless excel sheets. I'm really looking forward to this state-of the-art software engineering masterpiece.

Wow! That would be remarkable! But I hardly can believe that such a functionality will be created for a couple of reasons. A) This would be an incredible undertaking to manage for data-mapping, and B) new implmentations so often take advantage of clients desires to "optimise their business processes" by changing setups to what they'd hope they could be and not what they have been doing.

So I could not see incredible value in a feature like this that would be used so infrequently (I figure once per new install) and will require a rigourous review to make sure that those settings ported over will be eveything that they should for a new install. But I'm sure if they code it, it shall get used! *hehe*

And they wonder how rumours get started...

Any information on the source of this please? It is very unlikely...

    Would be nice though. :-k

Won't work and will require modification, and most of other ERP system have some customization. I guess they could do it for some leading competition, like SAP B1.

I just see it as more code that will not apply to to 90 percent of implementations.

So far this is the first April 1st joke, I've encountered. Slashdot for some reason didn't destroy the news day.

I couldn't find any yesterday either, so I decided to start one myself. :D

Rumour is that 7.0 will have a feature that it will sell products by itself on eBay and banknotes will come out of the floppy drive :D

Damn! I have no more FDD in my Notebook. For such a feature, I would buy an USB FDD...
But, with my luck, this feature will only work with internal FDDs

Maybe we should ask to let those banknotes come out of the CD/DVD-drive. The advantage is that the banknotes can also be bigger!

They would need to be CD-R/DVD-R drives so the system can create the banknotes.

While we're at it, can it support mirroring in case we lose a banknote, we'll still have it?
There are no bugs - only undocumented features.

I have my doubt about that. It is forbidden to copy them!
