:-k i belive the license is only for firms. But when you create your own firm (like freelancer) you can also buy the license

You have to become an official NAV partner to get a developer license, and for that you can't be by yourself. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but in general, individual people are not supposed to get a developer license.

only for partners? An customer can also buy the granules 7200 or (and) 7300 (in past the cost was 20000 C/Shells, or so), so he can develop. But for login on partnersource he need an partnerstatus.

One more thing... There is a developer license on MSDN with limited capabilities. It should be enough to learn, but will not give you full development access.

ok, you have not the full access to all no's in Object designer (between 50000 and 99999) or some special modules like "datev" or partner granules. But with granule 7300 you can modify important objects like CU 22 or 12. Or create your own objects. If you wont add / store more than XX (buyed granuels) objects (tables, forms, etc) you must buy a lot of (granule 8200 .. 8750) object. So, in this part, not full development access, you are right denSter.

Those granules will give you a lot of access, but there will definately be times where you don't have access to things that you'd need to develop something properly.

Do you mean even with 7300 Solution Developer you won't have sufficient access? :?:

It only gives you access to modify objects that are in your license. so if your license (for example) has access to tables 50000 .. 50009 and 75000 .. 75019 you wll not be able to modify table 65,000.

What it means is that you must purchase ALL the granules you wish to work on BEFORE you can actually edit them. f you think about it this is quie logical for a company that has purchased the development tools to work on their own system. But for example you will not have access to the upgrade objects, so you will still have to pay your Partner to upgrade your system.

As an end user, you will not gain access to write directly to protected tables.

These tables are used for audit purposes and therefore any customer who has a VAR developer license would be able to "cook" their books and destroy the value of the product.

The latest offering on the Microsoft SQL environment does allow you to change data at the SQL level, but the application will remain consistent and fail in ways you can't imagine if you actually manage to change the protected tables.

If you need specific example of what can happen, we should take it off line to prevent "flaming" any one individual or organization.

Not true. Granule 7,300 allows you to modify protected tables.

    Hi!

Another way could be to download and register the NAV ISV agreement to get a developer license for some purposes.
