License plates uniquely identify a pallet in the warehouse. License plates may consist of one or more items, lots, serial numbers, etc..., but always uniquely identify one, and only one, pallet.
License plates are useful when you have mixed pallets and want to single-scan to move, or if you want to provide a per-pallet shipping manifest. They're also useful in single-lot pallets when you want to track a particular pallet of input to a particular lot of output (note that an inbound lot in production could contain multiple pallets), but that requires that your production process work with license plates as well.
I believe Lanham and Associates offer License Plating in their E-Ship/E-Receive product...
E-ship allows receiving, but once the inventory is received, pallet info is not stored and move from one bin to another, pallet info is not available.
This is not correct. We will reuse the information and allow Put-away and movement of the pallet, including lot and serial no information. But when starting to pick from the pallet will it be invalied. This means it is not complete license plating, but it solve the task of handling mixed pallets for put-away and movements. It will require that E-Receive is building the pallet and ADCS Warehousing (with handhelds) is used for moving the items.
It is only used for Movement and Put-away. So we do not call it License Plating since it do not do the complete cycle. It is also required to use E-Receive to build the pallets (it also print the label with the barcode).
So you are right about comsumption from a License Plate. We do not track that.

It doesn't track consumption of that license plate through manufacturing, does it?
Thanks.
