Ever found yourselves searching for a certain field value in the zoom window?
Or trying to compare two records copied from a zoom with the aid of excel?
Then this little tools may help you to do this job more quick and comfortable.
needs .net 2.0.

Simply copy to your program folder and try:

copy a record from zoom and "Insert 1st"
copy a different record (of same table) and "Insert 2nd"
"Show" lets you filter for All/Identical/Different field contents.
"Find" lets you search for certain fields or values.
clicking the column header offers sort facilities.
you can do simple arithmetics on marked fields.

ideas for enhancements are welcome.

Handy little tool!

Maybe you can use a red color to indicate the fields with differences, in the Show "All" mode?

I often have 3 columns (Field, Field Name, Value) visible in the zoom-window. For the use of this tool I have to use 2 columns. But that's default off course and not a problem.

new version 2 comes with this extensions:
- lines with differing contents are shown in red
- it's always taken the leftmost and the rightmost column from zoom window, so it is possible, to have field caption AND name column visible.
- new FETCH mechanism (get zoom into compare with one mouseclick)
- tray icon for easy access to insert and fetch function without the need of activating the program.

Interesting program, 2 suggestions though :
- make it so that closing the program with the normal cross in the upright makes it go to the systray, not actually close the program.
- Change the keypress combination to :

^{F8}
^a
^c
{ESC}
{ESC}

this makes it work better with clients in other languages.

Hello MBerger,

as i mentioned in the included rtf-files, i had problems with the key sequence you described. i always tried with uppercase letters (^A and ^C), i never thought it makes a difference in behaviour to lowercase letters.
i thank you for this help....
you can change the key sequence, as i described in the same document.

i'm working on the next version of zoomcompare, it will include your suggested changes.

planned additional features are:

- save/load contents of zoomcompare to/from file.
- ability to compare more than 2 records.
- ability to compare unequally structured records (e.g. Sales Line // Sales Shipment Line)
- may be more

but it might last a while....
