clear old versions menuitem

there is a menu item called, clear old versions in the menu.

Does annyone know why it is there, and what it does :?:

Never noticed that before.
It's only there when Object Designer is the active form.

I understand that it is part of the C/DART tool for saving corrupt databases by reverting the database to an earlier "version" of the data. I only know this because I noticed that it was on the menu list, but I could not use it, so I asked one of the guys at what was then Navision UK, what it was.
