Hello

I have created definition groups for the import of stock items, and am now trying to export the definition groups that I created to circulate among team members.....

I am stuggling however. My initial import was of the Custom type when creating my definition groups. When on theis definition group, the option to export on the right hand side of the form is greyed out.

Can anyone help??

Kind Regards

    Hi

Are you trying to export the "actual" definition group, or are you trying to export the table data from the definition group?

If you are trying to "export" the data you cannot with the type "custom" this is used only to import a custom defined table group. The Excel template wizrd can quickly create an export of the table and selected fields, which in itself creates a definition group.

    Thanks for your reply.......

It is just the actual definition group that I am trying to export. I am not concerned about the data, simply the definition group that I created, and the associated field setup etc, so others can apply my definition group to their copy data....saves reinventing the wheel!!

I am aware of the Excel Wizard creating its own definition group, but it is considerably slower than using the definition group import routine when importing large quantities of data.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks again

You can do this, although it exports ALL definition groups :D

You create a definition group on the following tables:
    SysExpImportGroup
    SysExpImpTable

You could then edit the file just for your group of course.

On the import they must choose to update existing records, and say yes to deleting exisitng records - although it does not.
