Hide/Show columns..

Using Navision 3.10.
Let's say you go into Inventory -> Items -> and then once you're in an item card goto Item Availability by Color. In there we choose to hide or show a column.
Everything works fine on all our computers except one. The one computer will hide a column, but randomly it seems later on the column will show up again.
Any suggestions on why this could be happening?

later on the same day or later on during the week?
Do you ever open up two navisions and get the message "Would you like to save the Zup file?"
Does this behavior happen when the same person logs on or when two different people logon?0 -

Originally she said it was randomly, but I asked her your question. We do a backup daily between 1:30pm and it ends about 2:10pm. During that time nobody in the office is in Navision except my machine from where we goto TOOLS -> BACKUP. After backup is successful they go back into Navision. So, it seems like her columns don't work after she exits Navision and goes back in.Savatage wrote:Do you ever open up two navisions and get the message "Would you like to save the Zup file?"
She doesn't get that message she says, but I've gotten that on occasion on my computer. It asks if I'd like to replace the ZUP file and I've said no. Does the ZUP file store configuration settings? A lot of times I've seen these girls just click things to make the window disappear. I've got mad at them on a bunch of occasions because they click things on the web, or I'll be trying to explain things to them and they're quick to click things. So, it's quite possible she replaced the ZUP file. Where are users ZUP files located? We have Navision on it's own computer, which is on a networked R: drive. It's only used for Navision. Each user has their own computer running Windows XP Pro (one might be on 2000 Pro). Should I have her exit Navision and delete her ZUP file and let her go back in?Savatage wrote:Does this behavior happen when the same person logs on or when two different people logon?
If I am following what you say here, we have 8 licenses I believe. Everyone uses the same login User ID and password except our accountant. So, 7 people are all using Navision at the same time under the same User ID.
Only one machine in the office has the problem of not retaining settings pertaining to hiding or showing columns. I'm not sure about other settings, but I know that is the thing they want to fix now.
The reason we all use the same User ID is because the person who used to handle all this stuff no longer works here. She wasn't the most technical person, but she was the most technical out of anyone who worked here at the time. Now that I am here I have a background in computers and am pretty knowledgable. I do have super user access to Navision and I can create User ID's if needed, but they don't want to because the whole "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality. Plus, I am not that knowledge in Navision other than using it and light modification (mostly with help of fine people here).
Should using the same User ID be a problem? We've been doing it for years.0 -
I beleive you have to show "Hidden Files & folders" to see the zup
Mines located in C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Application Data\ (which I believe is standard)
Some setups have it saved and is user specific - but it doesn't sound like it in your case.
I always say "YES" to replacing the Zup file.
If you delete it all the column and form placements & sizing will be lost.
The system will then create a new one when you login and again start saving all your setting (if you want to start fresh)
Note any changes to a form using designer and then recomplining it will removed all prior user setups.0 -
Yes, I looked on my machine and there is a ZUP file where you mentioned. I guess, the search in Windows didn't look there.Savatage wrote:I beleive you have to show "Hidden Files & folders" to see the zup

I went ahead and copied her ZUP file to another location then deleted the one there.
It seemed to clear up her problem. We were able to move and hide columns and the settings are retained after restarting Navision.
Thanks for all the help. Guess maybe the file had become corrupt or something.
Wish there was some kind of rating system here, because you've always been very helpful to me. When I get the some money I'll make a donation here to become a site supporter. While I doubt my company would pay for such thing, I feel compelled to do so.0 -
You'll get answers either way.. \:D/0

Good one. I figured I would donate some money, but decided to ask my operations manager anyway. She's been away all week, but I bet the email will get looked right over.
No offense to anyone, but she's very cheap sometimes.. she's Indian. I used to work for Radio Shack and I had an Indian try to talk me down on something that was on clearance for $1. It used to sell for like $39.99 or something! It was the previous year's tax software lol. Since I wouldn't lower the price he didn't buy it. I would have rather bought it myself and burned it in front of him.MW59 wrote:yuppicide wrote:When I get the some money I'll make a donation here to become a site supporter.
