Use mail 5.0 functionality in 4.02 database

I believe I have seen this addressed before, but I cannot find it.
Is it just a matter of replacing codeunit 397 from 4.02 with the codeunit from 5.0 or is there more to it?

If existing code is using codeunit 397, does that need to be changed to use codeunit 400 or is that a different problem?
