Hi.
It's not often I create a new company, bu when I do I'm faced with the Company Type option, and the lookup displays the Company Type Selection table.
Help on both windows is non-existant (go figure), so it leaves me wondering what this option is for?

i presume you're working on a NAV 5.0.
The company Type selection offers you a limited number of different predefined companytypes.
Upon choosing one from the list, NAV will not only create the new company, but also create businessspecific settings (posting groups,...)
There is of course always the option of NOT to choose one from the list.
NAV will create an EMPTY company for you. Populate it using RIM and you're off
I personally prefer the latter... what you do yourself, you sometimes do better ;-)
Follow-up question: Where (is) this documented?
Bob
check out the section on RIM (Rapid Implementation Methodology) in the NAV 5.0 documentation. Not that is mentions in detail which companytype-specific settings are performed.
And before you ask... don't bother trying to add your own companytype in the list. Been there... the list is rocksolid hardcoded.
