Permission Groups

Dear All,

I need to create sort of groups of roles in Navision. For example let's say the Sales Ppl need to have 10 already defined roles. I would like these roles to be sort of created into one by simply adding all the 10 roles and not the tables one by one. Is this possible?

    No. Not possible.
You can copy the roles from an existing user to a new user. That's it.

I think you can do that.

In "Windows Logins" you are allowed to add not only domain users, but domain groups as well. And set permissions for them. Therefore, if you would create a domain group "domain\salespeople", you would be able to add permission directly to group.

I haven't seen it done anywhere, just an idea... anyone else tried something like that?

We are using this way without problems. I created new Groups in AD for each "user role" and and NAV I assigned the roles to each group. Now I just add the user into NAV and make him a member of correct groups on AD and all is done. There is just one limitation - users must be directly members of the AD groups, you cannot use model where you add another group into the group used in NAV...
