Learning Business Rules/Logic

Hello everyone,
I am a computer science graduate and have been working with Navision for last 2.5 years as Navision Developer. I am very confident with technical matters coding and database concepts.
However, I believe it is time to learn more about business rules. I know that there are many Navision Developers out there who have had or still have hard time in understanding business rules etc. Many fresh NAV developers, who have technical background, know how it feels like when non-technical people talk about accounting, inventory, consolidations, fixed assets, statements with business terms. Believe it or not, it is not easy to customize Check Management in Navision if you have never written a personal cheque in your life or you don’t know how cheques are processed by banks
I am aware that having the knowledge of business rules and terminology will reduce the time that is spent for understanding customer requirements, development and debugging. I would like to hear some suggestions from consultants and experienced developers about how I can develop my skills in business topics. May you suggest books, e-books, course names, cd/dvd sessions, online/paper magazines?
Below there is a list of business areas I would like to learn more about. (You may also expand it)
1. Accounting
2. Sales & Receivables
3. Purchases & Payables
4. Inventory
5. Fixed Assets
6. Warehouse Mgmt
Thank you

Hi,
I believe knowledge of business rules is very important.
Maybe more important than having a technical background. But maybe that's my opinion because I have a business background and not a technical.
I think a good way to learn business rules is always ask why a certain adjustment has to be made. When a consultant or customer explains the adjustment to you, he explains the process and thereby you learn a bit more about business.
So don't just execute the development job, but make sure you understand why the job has to be done.

The best way to learn about business is to start a business yourself. Doesn't have to be big, but it has to be profitable.
Then you will see exactly what your customers are going through.Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog
