Item Availability Confusion

According to Bin Content, we have quantity 6 available of item ABC (I made sure it was the correct bin content, including variant code and all the fields in the primary key).

We can select four of these specific serial numbers and assign them to a sales order, no problem. At this point the bin content does not change, only the availability of that serial, which I believe is correct.

We create a pick from the sales order. One thing I did notice was that here, the lines were combined into one take line and one place line. Shouldn't there be four since we are picking specific serialized items? Not sure, but once the pick is created bin content shows that 4 are on the pick and now we only have 2 available. Sure, makes sense.

Now we try to register the pick and get the error message "Quantity Available must be at least 4 in bin content...".

What am I missing here?
