Hey guys and gals,
I work for a company that are using NAV 3.7 and i am slowly becoming the go-to guy for any NAV issues or queries and i have only been here a month!
To be able to help with some of the more advanced queries i need to increase my knowledge of NAV. My boss has ordered me the "Programming Microsoft® Dynamics™ NAV" book. So hopefully this is a good place to start.
Just for your information - I have only been using NAV for 3 weeks. I have no programming experience apart from a little HTML. But am willing to learn everything and anything that is needed.
What steps can i take next to increase my knowledge?
Looking forward to your answers.
Dave

It all depends upon your definition of "cheap"
Your partner should be able to assist, there are also intensive bootcamps provided by firebrand training. Then you can find resources through the web. If you are a customer on a valid maintenance contract you should have access to Microsofts customer source, not sure but there may well be manuals available there, if not there should be lots of useful information. There is also a wikipedia entry for Navision and other forums where you can ask questions and hopefully get answers.
Best of luck!
The partner providing our NAV services is quite guarded in what they will release. Is there a list anywhere that shows what i should have access to? Would be great to show the boss so i can show him what i am missing.
But the amount of free and useful knowledge I've gotten are right from reading, following & trying suggestions from either www.mibuso.com or http://dynamicsuser.net/
might want to download & save these available docs

If You have upgrade plan for your system, you may connect to Microsoft Customer Source and download there manuals for Navision (Training Materials) for financials/development/manufacturing and so on... all the training materials:) - ask your NSC for support in this case, or MS support to get information how to connect. Also you may order hardocpy of these training materials - about 50EUR per book.

Hi Dave
I am not sure what is on customersource as I do not have access, but as an initial starting point do you have access to customersource? After that the content is Microsoft controlled, not your partner, and as other postings say you can get the manuals from here as well as access other resources. Ask your partner for access to customersource, it is your right if you are on a valid maintenance plan.
Thanks everybody!
has just checked CustomerSource - there are all training materials for
Navision 4.0 and 5.0 versions (6-7 languages for most of courses).
