We have got a Sequal Server here in Germany 2005.
We have different Navision databases (4.2) on that server for our subsidiaries in other countries.
The connect to Navision databases through citrix. We do have 3 Citrix servers with load balancing.
Sometimes the Navision user complain that the performance is very slow. Even when they try to enter a new line it takes seconds to get the cursor from one field to the other one. A couple of minutes later it works fine. No other Navision user had run a function which would have needed much of the performance. Actually sometimes there are only a handful of users in Navision, they are just entering data and still complain that the system is very slow.
We have also checked the communications lines, the citrix servers and the Navision server. The occupancy rate has been minimal.
Looking at each component separatelly it does not seem that it could cause a performance issue at all.
The Navision person tells me it cannot be Navision, the Citrix person tells me it cannot be Citrix, ...
Do you have any clue?
Thank you

What I understand, Alex point is in the network traffic that may causes this kind of problems.
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

The problem is both. Go for Internet technology instead of conventional client/server.

It is possible, that your connection lost some ip packages. And check in this step, the time (ms) of ping (ping server-ip -t)
If there is all fine, check if some user makes an up-/download over your lan / WAn.
You can also make an higher priority for the citrixprotocol.

But:
We have a 4 Mbit sync line with a ping reply approximatelly 50 ms.
www.speedtest.net tells us that the whole 4 Mbit are available.
So do you realy think it is the line?
@ idiot
What do you mean by “Internet technology”? Could you give me an example of an application please?
