related items

Hi all

I was wondering if the DB has some table that is intended for linking certain items to each other.

Example:

I have an item like a notebook and I would like to have a list somewhere what items are related to this notebook (carry case, aditional battery, mouse...).

no it has no such table as I know. perhaps one of the Dimensions can be used for this

there is nothing dirrect set up for this, but I did a similar thing for our company, using the item cross reference table,

so if your notebook is item x, and it has related items

y and z,

then you could make an item cross refence for each of the three items
so Item x would have a cross reference of x, and
Item y would have a cross reference of x, and
item z would have a cross reference of x also.

so when you looked at item x and showed the cross references you could see the other two items,

the cross reference field can be entered directly in a sales order, in place of the item number, it has it's own field on the sales line, so if you enter x in the sales order line Item cross reference field, it will pop open a window showing you the three items allowing you to select the one you want.
