Can't Print Escape Sequence to Laser Printer

When I send a MICR font selection escape sequence to a Laserjet 5si, the escape characters are converted to spaces. They are correctly formatted in the text variable but the PCL output shows spaces. This is part of a check so I can't pick a text driver, so how to do?

You cannot pass escape seq. when printing over Windows drivers. It is for "security reasons". If you need to send ESC seq. you need to send them directly to the printer (look there: http://www.mibuso.com/dlinfo.asp?FileID=341).

I have sent micr characters to a printer by installing the micr font and specifying it as the font in Navision.
I have had no problems with this in versions 2.6 and 4.0
