Permision-filter on G/L Account

Anybody know how the function to use permissionfilter on G/L Account works?
I set up on user, Acount no. filter from as an example "1000..1200" but does not work.
Its a 4.0 version

If you want to restrict a user from seeing other accounts on a particular form shouldn't you apply the security filter on the table data.
I just did a quick test and this worked for me using the standard read GL security role.

Check all the roles assigned to the user for permissions on G/L Account table with Read permissions without sec. filters.

Actually we are two persons which both cannot get it work. It should be so simple, but it does not work.
We tried totally from bottum and put on permissions on the user.
