Shelf No. vs Bin Code

Hi,

I use NAV 4.0 SP2 and don't completely understand when to use Shelf No. and when Bin codes within Location codes?

Bin codes allow moving the Item from one bin to another, and to have item in more than one bin. That seams logical to me.

But with Shelf No. field you can only have item in one shelf and if you want to move item you have to edit Item card.

In short: When to use Shelf No., and when Bin codes?

Bin Code is available with Location Code in whole ERP.
So preference must be given to bin code only.
U can transfer, sale, purchase, +Ve adjust, -Ve adjust, Manufacture goods bin by bin not by Shelf No.

Its a just filter for inventory reporting purpose only. Shelf No. is used only for those products which have a single place in inventory for all Qty which is not possible (I think).
