Order Planning without a location

Do you know if it is possible to have locations defined but not to work with until you register the shipment or the receipt of the items?

Or let me put it some other way:

let's take for example three locations A,B and C and the item X.
I have 10 pcs of X in location A, 15 in B and 20 in C.

My question is if there is a Sales Order for Item X - 100 PCS (I don't know yet the location) how can I tell the program to calculate the necessary quantity from a global point of view:

10+15+20=45 available
100=demand => there is a need for 75 PCS

Thank you!

    Try this: in inventory setup set Inventory Mandatory to NO, in manufacturing setup leave the field Components at Location blank.

    I am not sure if this realy will work, but try it.

    Thank you for your reply!

    I tried this and it did not work!
    Having the Location Code field Blank on the Sales Order lines is treated like the Blank location - even if it is not explicitly defined in Whs. Stp. Afterwards, in the Req. Worksheet the program suggests the quantity needed for the "Blank location".

    It is not possible with standard nav mrp.

    I would write a report that would print the info or insert the lines on reqline.
