Where and when we could get MBS Navision 4.0 alpha?

Can anybody give some links to the information about this topic?

We had an online Navision/SQL seminar this week, hosted by MS, and they said the release date for 4.0 W1 is summer 2004, and the US version won't come out until late '04-early '05.

    Thanks.

But I heared that Green would be released this year too. Who will buy or support Navision 4.0....?

    Hello,

    Just to clarify:

Navision 4.0: This will be released mid 2004.

MBS "Merged" Product (Navision/Axapta/GP): Not available until 2006.

I asked the same question, and they did not say anything concrete about it. Just something vague like 'years into the future' and 'not any straight answers'. I guess they don't know themselves either.

    Hi,

If what you mean by "Green" is the the "merged" future MBS solution, then this is not available until '06.

Navision 4.0 will arrive this year and therefore will have at least two years of life before the arrival of Green. In fact MBS are planning to release a "Navision V5" in '05 before the release of "The Future Product" (This came from the head of Navision Development (Denmark) at one of our client days). In addition Navision will continued to be supported until 2012.

V4/V5 users will have the choice of continuing with Navision or upgrading to Green when it comes out.

Plenty of reason to buy Navision. You can keep using it or move up!

ok.... I think we are talking about different things here.

Project Green is the code name for the 'integrated MBS solution to end all MBS solutions' if you will. It is not a product yet, and MS is saying that it won't be available until at least 2006, but they are not committing to that. The product will not be called 'Green', but probably something really buzzwordy. If I would have to guess, this won't be ready until well after 2006.

Meanwhile, MS has leaked that they would be releasing a beta version of project green, and I think they are calling it the business framework, into the partner community to get feedback and probably also to stop the constant nagging by NSC's and other partners. As rumored, this would be available at the end of 2003, and is therefore already late. I asked the MS guys the other days, and they either don't know or don't want to tell, because I did not get a straight answer.

The initial idea was that MS would release Navision 4.0 as the final 'Navision' version, and then concentrate on the new integrated solution. If a development big shot from Denmark is now saying that there will be a 5.0, and the fact that MS is not really giving any answers about when we can see the business framework, I start wondering if they really have a clue where the new product is going.

Anyway, I am just rambling, I guess nobody really knows. We can just try to piece the puzzle together.

In my opinion, Microsoft is concentrating all the business solutions resources on the .NET-based solutions. It could be seen from Microsoft's product strategies.
They will provide us Navision 4.0 (maybe 4.x) only because they did much for this product before "one-solution" plans. So "Navision 5.0" is just a word, i guess.

But I can't say anythig concrete, because never heared or read any useful answers for my questions from MSB officials.
