I don't want to import the bmp into the database as I will have thousand of images.
The image's name is going to be the same as the item no.
Is there any other way to link this picture, for example by code?
uh, did you read the post above? Click the link it has some code.
I read it, when you first posted it, it is a great way to handle pictures.
I don't have access to cal/code in forms or tables, just a lowly end user without application designer, so I had to send a link to your post to my solution center, and pay them to code it for me, estimate to do it was $450, so haven't actully done it yet.

It will then make life alot easier!
You can always go into the item's card
go to picture->import picture. It will then save it in a blob field.
If your talking about thousands of pictures this will increase the size of your database.
Another option is to have the picture show on the item card as you go into each record and still keep it on a seperate harddrive.
Here's an example

PS I also use a free program called pixresizer (google it) to shrink all the bmps to a more viewable size (if they are too big)

In 5.0, there's is a linking feature available in which you can link any files to the Item record.
