I think the case is (usually) if it needs to be reprinted then
1) it was lost
2) printer messed up
3) dog ate it
Other than the first you need to reprint anyway.
if it was 1 you should still void it and print a new one with a comment that it's replacing check #xxx in case it ever turns up again.
You never want two checks with the same numbers floating around.
Before mailing checks we always run them thru the copy machine.
Then Staple the copy to the bill(s) it's paying and file it away.
Do you have a different senario of what happend to the orig check?
