I'm a Navision newbie and I have a question.... I hope that someone will help me soon...

I need to transfer data from a 3.60 db to a 3.70 DB... I need to use dataports...but...

this is my question:

Is there a quick and simple method to export to a textfile the data of the various Setups (for ex.: Relationship Management Setup etc.)

and...

What are thje best methods to tranfer data?

Please Help me...

Thank you in advance...

    Hi,

As long as the table structure of tables in 3.6 and 3.7 are the same you could just create a dataport and select the table name and then bring in all fields and export the records to a text or .csv file in excel. You could then expor the object from 3.6 and bring it into 3.7 and run the same dataport and import the records from the exported file.

If the file structure is different, you do have to do some coding which is quite eloborate to discuss in this forum.

    Thanks
    Best regards
    Suresh.

    Thank You,

I hope that data from 3.60 will fit in the new 3.70 tables...

A qestion first : you want to export the setup because.....
    - you want to have an empty entry database (ie a database with only the setup, no entry at all) ?
    - or you want just to move a setup from a database to another wich has already entries ?

If you answer yes to the first proposal then......
Once your objects are in the 3.70 version, you can do the next :

    - backup your 3.60 with data
    - restore in the 3.70 database
    - delete all entry wich are not setup (one codeunit can do that quite easily)

    There are certainly easier way...
