Log Shiping Problems

Hi,

I am trying to set up a stable log shipped standby database - but with no luck

My database is big (approx 300GB) so it;s not a qick and easy for me to try stuff.

I've the standby server set up fine and log shipping works for a while - but then after a few days I always get a log that the standby database will not restore - or it stays restoring for ever.

I'm copying the logs to a newtork lcation from production and then Satndby is copying them dowm to the local disks and restoring from there. We're using SQL2005

I think that the re-index jobs and maintance plans that I have running overnight are causing the problems - but they should not be.

Can anyone suggest how to toruble shoot this further - or have you hit the same problems?

Thanks

Is setting the recovery model to simple part of your maintenance plan? This might break the log chain. Try modifying that to bulk logged instead.

    Hi Daniel,

thanks for the reply - this however we have already done.

I'm not sure that the problem is the log chain - i think something is causinig the log to corrupt - I might give it times and only ship outside of maintainance hours.
