Dataporting records

I want to dataport the records of CUSTOMER from Excel file to NAV 4.
It's is the right way to,just create a dataport for Customer and dataport the data from excel file? or there is a right way?Thanks

Dataport requires txt format (normally CSV). You can use Mapping Tool avaialable in the setup checklist which will export the definition of the table and then you can import directly from excel.
